Turkey part 1

Yay Cappadocia!!

So last Monday we took a night bus (about 12 hours) and started our week long trip through southern Turkey.....and we started in..... CAPPADOCIA! It is by far one of the most amazing places in Turkey, it is truly incredible. (so this is one of quite a few other posts to come from this last week)

First off I want to give a shout out to the buses in Turkey. They are fantastic! It is like you are on an airplane. The buses are so nice inside and there are little stewardesses that walk around passing around drinks and snacks ha ha. The only problem are the bus drivers...I'm pretty sure they are crazy and dont realize that if they go 90 miles an hour around a corner on a mountain pass that there is a SLIGHT possibility that you may tip the bus over a cliff. One of our bus drivers got mad at another car and tried to run them off the road....THAT was interesting.

It is honestly the place of natural wonders. And so on arriving we found a hotel in a cave....ha ha yes a CAVE! It was so fun I loved it!

This is our cave room
the patio overlooking the city

Please read the sign of our hotel very carefully...ha ha we loved our wiewover and the roop!
Next we rented a scooter and just spent the day scootin around and exploring!

All over Cappadocia are all these houses built into rocks....like entire cities it is amazing...we pretty much spent the whole day crawling around and exploring all of the homes...and the best part is most of the time we were completely alone :)

I have to say my favorite part was our hot air balloon ride the next morning....we had to wake up at five because the balloon floats over Cappadocia at sunrise... it was so amazing!!!

getting ready to take off..
so so amazing!!

soaring!!! I have to say I think that Cappadocia was my favorite part of the trip! Such a beautiful place with so much history, so many amazing natural wonders, hot air balloons and my best friend...all these combined
= greatness!!!

i LOVED turkey too. i think it's because you don't really know what to expect and then it exceeds all expectations. i loved chillin' on the rooftops. we went on one of those long night bus rides too and all i remember was the crazy busdriver. we were in the very front seats so i could see through the rearview mirror that our busdriver was smoking and kept falling asleep. the co-driver had to keep pushing his shoulder to wake him. i was DYING thinking we were going to crash! it was so freaky! have fun and stay safe!

The hot air balloon pics are great. We also thought that Cappadocia was the best part of Turkey. Check out our blog to see more: http://www.greenaroundtheglobe.com/2009/11/08/fairy-chimneys-and-panoramas.

Hope you guys enjoyed Jerusalem, it was great meeting up with you at the boarder crossing into Israel.
